Sri Lanka Players Banned from Playing Foreign Leauges

Sri Lankan Cricket Board has yesterday Temporarily banned all of its players from playing any Foreign League. The reason due to which all the players are banned from playing foreign leagues is the availability issue at next year Cricket World Cup 2011.

Sri Lanka Cricket Board wants to pick best available squad in World Cup and wants all the Sri Lankan players available for it due to which no players is allowed to play any foreign league. According to Sri Lanka Cricket Board Manager Brian Thomas the ban will be effecting the 76 players that where playing or where planning to play foreign leagues.

Two big Sri Lankan Cricketers Sanath Jayasuriya and bowler Chaminda Vaas are playing English County Cricket these days so after ban they will also return to Sri Lanka. Cricket World Cup 2011 is starting next year and Sri Lanka is also Co-host of it along with India and Bangladesh.
